DE-BUG are careful when making fuel saving claims as our units are not designed primarily to be used as fuel saving devices. However over the last 20 years our clients have insisted on the fuel savings they have experienced.
Anecdotal evidence suggests that if you have diesel bug in your fuel and fit a DE-BUG unit you can expect a notable improvement in power and as much as 11% reduction in fuel use. If there are no apparent signs of bugs in the fuel, past users of DE-BUG users have also claimed a reduction in fuel burn and an increase in horsepower. There however is no laboratory analysis to back this up only anecdotal evidence. See testimonials page for more examples.

Improved Fuel Consumption
In 2008 a large Australian freight company concluded their trials with DE-BUG.
Eighteen months of testing with a Major Transport Co. (running 110 B-Double Trucks) proved 5.4% average reduction of diesel use in the trial involving several of their long haul trucks: Driving set routes with consistent loads, using assigned drivers – Data drawn from engine management computers. This data was compared to sister trucks on same routes running at the same times without De-Bug Units. This Company uses Quality assured fuel, supplied out of vertical tanks checked daily for contaminates, trucks serviced every 10,000km and tuned by engine Co’s (Cummins, Detroit & Cat) every 100,000km – De-Bug achieved 5.4% reduction of diesel use!.
Other truck companies are achieving the same results. DE-BUG units are now being routinely installed for every truck in their Long haul fleet.
Quickfreight European fitted a De-Bug unit to a Volvo FH12-420 Globetrotter and compared fuel consumption over a six month period with the previous six months. The trial demonstrated a fuel saving of over 11%.

A rigorous trial was also conducted on construction trucks in Australia during the period 1995/1996. Four trucks were fitted with De-Bug units and were compared with four trucks not fitted with De-Bug units. The results indicated fuel savings of over 7%.

The Singapore Naval Maintenance Base also undertook a trial on three vessels involving the monitoring of fuel consumption (usage per hour). Two vessels which were known to have higher than normal fuel consumption recorded savings of 20% and the third a saving of 15%.
M.V. Aka Bhum, a merchant vessel operated by Ship Control Services (PTE) Ltd. of Singapore, had engine exhaust temperatures above the maximum recommended levels.
A L4000 De-Bug unit was fitted which resulted in a reduction of the engine exhaust temperature to within limits. In addition, daily fuel oil consumption (for the same shaft revolutions) was reduced from 17.4 metric tonnes to 15.5 metric tonnes; a fuel reduction of over 10%.
Two Korean Trawlers participated in a comparative trial during the period December 1995 to June 1996; the Dong Won 601 and the Dong Won 608 which was fitted with a De-Bug unit. Apart from the De-Bug unit, both ships were considered to be identical and left Korea on the same day to operate off the coast of Portland, Oregon, USA.
Against the background of similar operating hours and total loading on the engines, the trial demonstrated a fuel saving of nearly 9%
